scouts

Dane is finally 8! He's waited a long time to get baptized (don't have the pictures to post yet) and to go to scouts....he has absolutely loved it! For the pinewood derby Dane and Bremen spent a few days working on Dane's car. Dane's a pretty patriotic kid, so figuring out the paint job didn't take long.

As you can see he was sooo excited when he'd win, which happened quite a bit. He ended up in 4th place out of about 20 kids. The best was just watching how much fun he was having, he didn't even mind when he lost. After all the work and enjoyment Dane and Bremen got out of this, I'm now convinced it's like a "right of passage" for them to experience together.

Dane's car was given the "most patriotic" award, he was very proud! Experiences like this make sewing on all those patches worth it! haha

Pinewood Derby is the best! The Dad's always end up enjoying it just as much so I keep telling the EQ here that they need to do a pinewood for the men. And Dane's car looks awesome! I love the picture where his hands are thrown up in excitement and blurred. I can't believe he's in scouts now, he's certainly not a little boy anymore.

Hint to Andrea - iron on webbing works great for patches if they are just going through ranks. It is also easier to use this system with more permanent patches, then sew around with your sewing machine (no more crooked emblems!). It is fun watching your kids grow up ~:-)
